Jeff Lowe is the CEO of The Fortis Company, LLC. Fortis is a self funded family partnership that acquires, renovates, manages and builds from the ground up, multi-family properties in the Southern and South Western United States, recently developing a luxury apartment community in Orange Beach, Alabama.The Fortis team also owns and manages JD Land Co, an enterprise that owns and manages industrial buildings. JD Land was formed when the Lowe family built a 60,000 sq. ft. building in metro Atlanta for Hardware Resources. JD has since built a number of additional industrial buildings which have been leased to small businesses.
Jeff was the founder and former CEO of Hardware Resources (HR). Formed in 1990 in Bossier City, LA, HR began as a manufacturer of metal furniture hardware. During his 20 years as CEO, Jeff led the company to become a full line cabinet supply firm with five distribution locations in the United States and a joint venture factory in China. In 2004, controlling interest of Hardware Resources was acquired by The Riverside Company with Jeff remaining as CEO and a minority shareholder. He remained with the company until the acquisition of HR by The Harbour Group in late 2010.
Jeff was also the founder and CEO of Designer’s Hardware Corporation, an importer, packager and distributor of cabinet hardware marketed to retailers. Designer’s Hardware was formed in 1985 and sold to the Amerock Division of Newell Industries in 1989.
From 1983 to 1985, Jeff was owner of Ellis Millwork, a local millwork and cabinet manufacturer in Shreveport, LA. He remained with Ellis Millwork until his interest was sold to a local investor.
Jeff began his career with South States, Inc. a Shreveport based hardware distribution company. Starting in sales he eventually served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing during his five year tenure with the company.
Jeff has over 32 years of hardware, cabinet and building product experience serving a national market. He also has more than 30 years of Asian sourcing experience and over 20 years in China. Jeff speaks some Mandarin Chinese and has extensive knowledge of Chinese culture and business practice with many business contacts in Guangdong and other provinces.
Tammie Lowe is a co-founder and Chief Financial Officer of the The Fortis Company, a real estate holding company involved in the acquisition, renovation, development, management and building from the ground up multi-family and industrial assets. Prior to forming Fortis, Tammie was employed by Hardware Resources (HR) from 1990 to 2010, working in almost every department over her 20 years of service.
She wore all hats at HR in the early years, sometimes beginning the day in the inside sales department and ending the day as the shipping manager. During the period from 2000 to 2010, she held the title of Controller, Credit Manager, Information Technology (IT) Manager, and Software Implementation Manager. She still serves as a consultant and special project manager for the company working a few hours per week from a remote office.
Tammie has 20 years of accounting and IT experience and is a power user of Excel, Word, Peachtree and other accounting software. She has developed trainer level skills and experience with Real Page over the past few months as she completed the set up of this online multi-family program for Fortis.
Tammie is a member of the Board of Trustees of Southfield School in Shreveport. She is also an active member of Airline Baptist Church where she serves on several committees.
